Quite a bit of food items here doesn't qualify as grocery... but rather as luxory.

In your example, I wasn't aware that you got credit for the tax paid out of state. ( I was aware in florida ).. that does make it a bit different.

Man, I sorry, I did NOT get the impression from your prior reply that you were aware that, as a private citizen in Florida, that you were expected to pay, personally or via collection by a store, use tax on every internet, mailorder, in-person purchase, weather in-state or out-of-state, with or without a credit for any tax that might have been paid in another state. And, I'm sorry I didn't make the intrastate tax offset in Kalifornia clear.

Just to be clear, I'm aware of use tax, and that if I buy a item out of state, and do not pay tax on it.. that tax is due in-state.

The post in question seemed to make it sound like tax was due out of state, and due -again- in state.

I think it'd be safe to call it a non misunderstanding. After all.. typed messages loose so much vs talking face to face.. hard to get exact meaning out of flat words.

New Hampshire for one has no sales or income tax

Quite a few years ago the Connecticut Liquor Commisioner & a State Trooper were ordered arrested for vagrancy at a Salem NH liquor store by the NH Governor. They were observing Ct. residents buying NH liquor & radioing their plate numbers to Ct. troopers on the border. Our Governor Thompson would not stand for anyone collecting their tax on our soil.
Many failed political careers have hinged on income & sales tax beliefs in NH.
Property tax is another issue altogeather.
