Tractor was running great. went to start it back up after lunch and nothing happens when turning the key. Thinking it's either the switch or solenoid. Still the original 6volt +grd.
What's the best way to check for either problem? Thanks

Looks to be ignition switch when I checked it with a test light. What baffles me is I don't have any head lights when I turn them on. Are they wired thru the ignition switch?

On some later models they were, in case you forgot to turn them off, on a separate switch.
