Good morning Mr Soundguy, I tried what you said about the plugs...heating them real good (hot) and completely dry....I thought I would go a little further and dry the cylinder walls out, when I stuck the torch in the spark plug hole, this thing blew up! I don't have no eye brows left, half my hair is gone and my upper lip is peeled over my nose.........just kidding I had to say something about your comment about getting burn or blowing myself up..Ha Ha....anyways I tried to crank it and same thing...nothing, it don't even hit a lick every now an then.........I'm still open for suggestion, Thanks again

Have you checked the timing?

I had a "B" engine that had mag. and low to no spark. found a wire in mag. that insulation was worn thin and caused problems. going to the points. take cover off bottom of flywheel and clean until see the timing mark. make sure the #1 piston is TDC. if aligned turn crank to check for spark. if correct should run wet plugs make me think to much gas in cyl. is the float level to high flooding the cyl. Your comments make me think your familer with engines. maybe a step back and get new look at the problems.
Ign. switch on proper pos. it grounds for mag. and opens for coil ign.
timing correct. gas shut off open. air intake open. (you can put fuel source in coffee can put in a spark and have explosin.) same for piston in engine.
Best wishes. ken

Is the carb. to manifold gasket sealing well..??

I have 5 tractors with the 113 and 123 engines. In warm weather it is possible to over choke them, and cause flooding. All but one I set at about 1/4 to 1/3 throttle. Give it full choke for about 2 revolutions, then take the choke off. All just seem to need a whiff of gas for the initial start.

My 240 is the only one that needs to be started at the lowest throttle setting.

So, maybe to much gas??

The only other possibility I can think of... If it has a magneto, and you have a good strong battery spinning it over, or when pulling, you may need to set the throttle up some to get at, or above the impulse timing of the magneto.

This sounds like a no spark problem to me. Have checked for spark at the plugs? Even out of time you should get some type of back fire through intake or exhaust. Possible engine stopped due to electrical failure, but coincedentally gas tank was empty or almost??? Just thinking out loud, but verify spark for those trying to help.

Yes sir it is in time for sure, and spark at plugs is a bright blue/ white spark......I have a test plug I call it and gap is set at .125 or 1/8" and it will light it up like a christmas tree on any of the plug wires, carburator has been gone through and it only wets the plugs if choked for 4 or 5 rounds, has 90 to 108psi compression, everything is in order to run but it will not hit a lick...its hard to believe that letting it run out of gas has cause me such problems.........still open for suggestion...I WILL NOT GIVE UP!!!!!!......Big Thanks to all who have tried to help.......hope you have a bless day

It seems like fuel is at a minimum. Air in the line? Collapsed line? Does fuel run good at carb connection?

Ok, here is an observation from a "non expert" at getting tractors running. I have no qualifications. Here is the deal: If the tractor has the proper fuel/air mixture getting sucked into the cylinders, has proper timing, has compression, and has a spark and cranks fast enough all of this to happen. The tractor MUST run. No way around the laws of physics/chemistry. The very fact the tractor will not start, when you say all of these elements are present, to me that means you have made a mistake on your evaluation of one or more of these conditions. You can either go over all of your diagnoses again, or perhaps ask someone else to go over your tests, without your help and see what they come up with. Sometimes you cannot see the forest for the trees. Another way to perhaps solve this is stop working on it for a week and come back and start over. I know sometimes the harder I try to solve a problem, the more elusive the solution becomes. When I stop trying to solve it, and come back later, sometimes the solution presents itself. These are just ideas..Good Luck

I've attached an exploded view of a Marvel-Schebler carb. used on the Farmall A. I'm curious if you removed the main discharge jet (#35, far right of the float) and cleaned that. There are several cross drilled holes in the lower part of the tube that can plug. The Zenith has the same, as all do, but this particular exploded view shows the holes in the tube much clearer.

Well people problem with no start on Farmall A is solved, by bad for assumeing... i had forgot about taking the cap and rotor off and try on another tractor.. it was not wire to #1 spot on cap, so I kelp that in my head which cause me to wire this tractor 180 degrees out....when I read Mr.kOua comments I said to myself..hey he's right, recheck your self or get away from it for a while, so I did recheck and thats when I found the timing 180 out, i had checked to began with 5 or 6 times but when i borrow the cap and rotor I guess I assume and you know what that means.....it runs as new as did before it ran out of gas.....I want to say great big thanks to everyone for yur help......and May God Bless you all...Thanks one more time!!!!!!
