Farmall almost bad accident, but squeaked by.

I dont know about others but alot of the tractors back then had alot of safety features. Overunning clutches PTO guards, warnmings about strating bu jumping the solenoid. and several others. I remeber Fergusons and others didnt have a start button or switch. They had a button in the shifter plate that actuated the starter. To start it It has to be in nuetral as your shifter was out of the shift pattern.

Hi all

Just started my farmall up this week. First time since last year. Reminded me of the almost bad accident with seat falling off. Tractor runs fine. Was going to post seat warning again, but decided easier to post answer and bring old messages up to today. Might be something to check on all those old tractor seat bolts. Many of us are still running old equipment. Hidden rust could be a danger.

Well, Im hoping to finish my 49 Super A up in a few weeks and Im planning on using the old seat bracket with a new seat. But I can tell you that I will definitely be using new bolts Especially after reading your story Glad everything was OK !
