Just used my Farmi 501 today for the first time. I'm hoping someone has some tips or tricks (and pics) for how they store and manage the two ropes (clutch and brake), so they are not tangled somewhere you don't want them and they are easily accessible. I realize this is only the first time using it, but someone here must have rigged something up pretty simple so the ropes are always accessible and yet out of the way.

I have a Kubota L4701 (no cab) and the winch also has that safety grate (which could also lend itself to some type of contraption for rigging or holding the ropes).

(I did a few different searches and didn't come up with anything on this specific topic). Just ingested volumes on tire chains though :) This site is great!

Thanks

Here is my obligatory first pic of the new tractor....

Nice looking rig there rt! Maybe Gordon will see this, he's got a bunch of winch hours under his belt, IIRC a Farmi also. My winch is not the same so I have no suggestions other than welcome to TBN and remember, we like pics!

I attached the metal snap lead ( like on a dog leash ) to the rope and just clip it to my screen when not in use.

Excellent idea...I knew there had to be a simple solution :)

Nice setup there. You'll wonder how you got along without it.

I have the little brother to your Farmi 501. Did you get it at Northeast Implements? And, welcome to the forum!

I had the same issue, Especially with the clutch control rope. I put a key/tool retractor on the rops and ran the control rope thru the ring. Works great. These are pretty old pictures took a while to find them.

The brake rope I just take a turn around the rops leaving a little slack and put the end in my saw box

Peavey bracket is another helpful thing

EDIT: BTW congrats on the new winch !!!!!!

It is a big step up from the Yamaha Rhino and ATV electric winch that proceeded it!

No, Champlain Valley Equipment in Vermont.

And Gordon - thanks for the additional ideas and helpful pics!

That winch looks so clean and shiny. Doesn't look right. Been brooding over buying one for some time now......
