Farmline 5' DX Cutter Shear bolt?

Lowes has grade 2 the grades are marked on the head, no marks on the head would be grade two, three hash markes denotes grade 5 . Plenty of reading online about bolt grading. 23 years with one bolt that great, I have gone thru 6 in two months. Best to ya!

I use grade 2 from Lowes also in my flail mower, and it works as it should. Tested and confirmed.

Replaced mine with a grade 2 and everything has been fine. However, this weekend I used a metal detector to find the original bolt and was surprised to find that it was a grade 5. The grade 2 I replaced it with sheared after about the same time as the original after hitting some serious multi-floral rose stems and roots. I got about 15 hours out of each while mowing similar terrain and flora. Once I get the initial mow done, I figure my grade 2 will last me forever unless I let everything grow up for years and years again.

I use grade 5 1/2 bolt by 3 1/2 long with poly lock nut buy them a dozen at the time from local bolt and screw company usually around 7 dollars for them. I want them long enough where shank on bolt is longer than coupling with threads protruding.

My grade 2 in a flair mower got tested in some very rough territory that had not been mowed in a few years. Worked fine until it got wrapped up with a bunch of heavy chicken type, wire. Then it sheared, as one would have wanted it to.
