Farms in Norway

It has become colder, I'm 50 and when I lived her as a young man it was not much snow, and -5c was cold, now it has been down to -17c and maybe 20 - 25 cm snow. But it can also be 10+ in December so it's very unstable.

I'm 67. Our Winters are much milder with much less snow. In all the talk of Global Warming you are the first person I've heard saying it's colder. I don't consider it Global Warming, I consider it climate change.

Awesome photos, Agvg! Thank you!!!!

Aren't they interesting!!! And the fact that the farm has been in the family for 350-400 years!!! Our settlements are so young!!!!

Precisely. (preaching to the choir here, those not in the choir will shake their heads that are already buried deeply in the sand or in some orifice)
Some areas will get colder - of particular concern is that ocean currents, which drive the weather, could significantly change. The Gulf Stream is what warms US New England, Canada's maritimes, and Ireland; if it slows significantly, those areas could easily get colder. Overall climate change is causing an average global temperature increase, but some places it's going up hugely and some places it's actually decreasing. Honestly, there's likely to be continued change for quite some time before some steady state is reestablished.

I agree. This "tidal swing" is not hampered by human years. We may not see it reverse in our lifetime.

Would this shift cause ocean levels to rise or fall because of current changes?

Greenland's ice cap will melt; Greenland will be greener than Erik's wildest dreams. That's a huge amount of water (enough for ~7m sea level rise).
The oceans are definitely warming, and they are causing large ice shelves on the coast of Antarctica to break off. At one point there was a thought that the Antarctic glaciers were more secure, but now they're seeing two huge glaciers (we're talking large-country-sized glaciers, not that little thing on the side of a moderate mountain) are losing 15% more ice each year than they're gaining from new snow falling on top of them.

Small islands are utterly doomed; we'll see how long rich countries like the Netherlands will survive. It would be a long time, but if Antarctica's cap fully melted, that would be another ~60+m.

It is a cycle, this area had the same cold climate in the seventies.

Yep, our moderation started in the early 80s and has progressed modestly.

Who maintains your road to the farm?

We have State roads, then County roads, then Township roads. I run a road grader for a Township and maintain 50 miles of gravel roads.

Agvg;
You called the one farm a summer farm, I noticed a lot of rock is that more just pasture ground?
That's quite a road going to it, is it a seasonal road or do they keep it open all winter?
Nice pictures.

Yes, it's not a farm in an ordinary way, the product was cheese, so cows and goats got milked and rest of the time they just let them out to roam as they wanted. Today sheep's is the only animal that uses the land, we let them out in may and then they follow growth of the gras and end up in the high mountains area during the summer until September when it's time to get them home.

In this picture you will see a very large man made structure and a clue why I have such a nice road.
