Jim,
I never said "YOU MUST BUY MAHINDRA" In fact I think I said that the Deere 790 @14K is going to be awfully hard to beat for what you are doing. That means that I think you should be in a 790 soon because it will do what you need it to. If I remember correctly, you posted a pic of your implements at one time, there was nothing there that the 790 will not pull. You mentioned trailering it, the 790 is a lighter machine.

IF and I DO NOT think that it is nessessary for you to go up to 35HP, but IF you are in that frame of mind, look at the Mahindra 3510, because you will be hard pressed to find a better tractor in that size for the money they want for it or more. MY OPINION.

I like overkill but it is not always nessessary, nor affordable or wise.

The 3510 is a Indian badged tractor, a Indian company that made a lot of the JEEP's of WW2 for the Allied forces, thats tractor division has its roots in International Harvester, however the 3510 is made in South Korea by KYM, using a Deadong engine (Kioti), in the same factory that makes transmission parts for Deere, shipped to the US and assembled here with US made loaders, wheels, ROPS and tires. While considered 2nd tier here, in is own area of the world Mahindra's outsell Deere and Kubota combined. It also has as good or better warrenty as any of the Biig 3. In my case it was one of the lines carried by a good dealer, of which out of the Big three there was ONE dealer in my area that anyone I talked to said they would go back to.

The Deere 790 on the other hand is a US badged tractor with a Japanese Yanmar engine and electronics. I dont know what all else is not made here but would be willing to bet that the transmission and other parts are outsourced.

Confused yet?

Dont go color blind until you do some homework and find out about the dealers.

I didnt mean to put the Farmtrak down, but it really didnt fit me and the price was higher than the big 3 in my area. I didnt look at it hard once the numbers came up. Your milage may vary. If it fits you, and you are comfortable with it, and the price is right and it will do what you need it to do, then get it.

BTW, you dont need to quote me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks... I appreciate your input.

Today I was going to look at the Mahindra but after visiting the attorney and $600.00 later.... This ordeal with my warranty may be over. I will hold off making a decision on purchasing another tractor until I see what is going to come of the legal battle.

Thanks to Heather and Gary giving up a vacation day... the "Truck Patch Garden" will be tilled with a tiller. See my post Page 19 of My Project Post on Monday evening to see pictures of the tillage being done by these wonderful people that have donated their time, money and equipmet to help with my project.

On another note, it a Crying Shame that I had to resort to a legal battle against the dealer and distributor. I am not a sueing type person. I tried very hard to get these people to even meet me halfway and fix the tractor. After this.... it is in my attorney's hands and God's hands. Please keep your prayers and support up and I will continue to do my part.

I will probably need some more seed and fertilizer and poison to control the beetles and such. If anyone would like to donate some of these things it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all of your help, prayers and support.

Sincerely,
Jim Bonham & Family
And From all the people that this will help. Thank you!!

Jim, good luck. With any luck, you'll get the tractor you bought working properly and won't need to look for a new machine at all. I hope all works out for you.

IMHO, the dealer now owes you 7600.00. Plus any travel time you have accumulated. Start marking it down. In these parts that is still considered "small claims". If you are lucky, this guy has already made a name for himself at the court.

I wouldnt take that tractor back from him on a bet. Take what you can, pay the lawyer and invest it in a new machine. That would be about 1/2 down on the 790.

I told the attorney that I would rather have my money back because of the way I was treated. I understand that the first move will be a letter to them from the attorney... which I doubt will do any good. Then the court comes at MUCH MORE Expense to me. It's the principal of the thing in my opinion. I would much rather invest money in a tractor than an attorney but if I don't stand up to these people they will continue to do other people this way as well. I told my attorney to turn all of it loose on them. I am feed up with all the expense and aggravation of their CRAP!! I have NO TIME for nonsense from these dealers!! I need to continue to do my project of Helping Feed People in NEED!!

Again, I would much rather have my money back from them and move on to a "Good Dealer". I guess time will tell. The "Wheels of Justice" move slowly. BTW, $5,000 is small claims court in our area. So this will be major General Sessions Court!

Kubota is the only one of the big three that build their own tractors. Some folks speak of tractors like the Shibaura as being second tier machines. Shibaura used to manufacture compacts for one of the big three, Ford/New Holland.

The Shibaura is a very good tractor, but parts can be difficult to get. Many models will cross reference with Ford/New Holland parts, but New Holland dealers aren't going to be much help in cross referencing the parts.

Jim, if you like the size of the John Deere 790 you may want to check out the Mahindra 2810. The 2810 is comparable to the 790.

I like the size of the JD 790 but the HP is too little I am afraid. The Shibaura pulled the chisel point in new ground on the side of an incline especially after I loaded the tires. I want the size of tractor but with more HP and a heavier tractor. I was so diappointed in the performance of the Shibaura... mainly because it has stayed in the shop more than I got to use it. 1st week I had it if you remember the steering went out. They kept it a week to fix and the third week I had it... the RING GEAR went out. I only got to use it about 25 hours total... as it had 2 hours on it when I got it. Most of that 25 hours was bush hogging with a 4 ft KingKutter. Maybe about 2 hours plowing and now I have nothing but a $7,000.00 Yard Ornament that they won't let me have back without signing some papers. Well, my attorney will handle that. I guess they thought this "Ole Country Boy" wouldn't go to an attorney and let the law handle this. All I can say is they better be glad I am a Civil Man and did not take this into my own hands. I do have some what "REDNECK" in my blood and we take care of our own. I did this the way God would have me do it.

Thanks and Here's Wishing You ALL a Fantastic and Safe Labor Day Weekend!!!!

If you are looking at a JD 790, I would consider the NH TC30. The NH has greater spec ratings over the 790, and the shifter is much more convenient to operate. by the way, NH compacts I believe have Shibaura engines in them, as opposed the the JD Yanmar. Kubota is the only one of the big three to build their own engines. I almost bought the NH TC30 TLB, but got a Farmtrac 360DTC TLB (Mitsubishi 39hp) for slightly less $$$. I still really like the TC30 though, great tractor for the $$. JD needs to improve the hydraulic capabilities on the 790 - the 3pt lift is 1/2 that of the TC30.

In My Opinion, anything to do with Shibaura is a problem. Even if it is a NH. I have a horrible taste in my system for Shibaura right now. I think that it was mostly from the way I have been treated by the dealer but two break downs in less than a month within 25 hours of use did not say much for it.

The JD 790 is some what on the back burner... if I buy a JD it will be the 5105 4X4 ... 50 HP with FEL and such. However... that tractor (JD-5105) is a bit larger than I want because of the weight and the transporting it would require me to get a larger truck to stay legal by DOT regulations here. Another thing I want that the JD-5105 or the JD-790 doesn't have is the Shuttle Shift.

I will be very picky this time on the quality and the features a tractor has available. I like the fact that Kubota does its own in house as that keeps third parties out of a warranty factor. Sometimes that is good and sometimes not. Maybe one day I will find the tractor I like. I have looked at the Massey Ferguson and I am impressed with their quality. I know I use to operate a MF and it never ever gave any trouble. It was there when you needed to work like a trusty friend.

I am looking at some used tractors as well because we have some farmers getting out of the business as well as some orchard owners. I would rather have a new tractor but who knows wwhat I will find.

I have left this in God's hands and he will lead me to the right tractor with my friends help here at TBN and their prayers. I will continue to search for my tractor and continue to ask your opinions on this until I find the proper tractor for my needs. Thank you all for your support and prayers.

Jim,
just like to say that what you are doing I think is very noble and great work.

Im very much sorry to hear about your tractor, one can only hope that it will all work ot in the great scheme of things, it will work out in the end.

As to your tractor decision, I strongly reccommend getting a new tractor. I think the problems with your tractor may be related to the fact that it is not a new tractor but one with many hours before its (possible incomplete) rebuild. If you were to get a new tractor and it appears you use the tractor alot, it will give you many trouble free years and be warrentied by a dealer who has a large organisation manufacturer to answer to if the warrenty isnt honoured.
Im sure if you explained your situation to a good dealer he would give you good advice and a good price and you would be under way quickly and without major issues.

Whatever your decision all the best and I hope it works out. Remember that you are being guided in a direction that may appear bad at the start but you just have to be strong through the rough to get to the good.
Thanks
