Fate of G vs BX?

HOLY COW! I've found a G owner! I have a few questions for you. You seem like your still pleased with your decision. How long have you had it? What are it's downfalls? How is that power steering holding up? Do you wish you had fuel and temp guages? Is the hood fading or cracking? How much grass do you cut? Did you have to pay full sales tax on it? All input is appreciated. THANKS!

I think those features are worth the difference but here is the kicker. When you go to sell this tractor, I can virtually gaurantee that there will be people who will want the used BX because they need the features it offers but can only afford a new G model. I don't think people are combing the paper looking for a used G. Why would they be? If all I wanted was a heavy duty lawn mower and all I could afford was a new TG or a used G, I would buy a new TG because there is no good reason to take a chance on a used machine when it doesn't offer much more. The BX is REALLY popular and will hold its value. You will recoup the extra money that you will invest in the features that the BX offers.
lastly, (since I know who you are, you are JUST LIKE ME)
5 years from now, after all the payments are made etc., will you look at the BX and regret buying it. Can you confidently say the same about a G?

Yeah, I agree fully. I also like the fact that since there area so many BXs sold, the bugs have been brought to the surface, and addressed. There is one dealer offering the BX1800 & 60" deck for $8999. This is the lowest I've ever seen. ...myself, I'm leaning toward the 2200. It just would not sit well with me that I was cutting with the same power as a TG.

Thats another feature that will reappear as money when you trade. Everybody seems to want the 2200. I see lots of 1800s that don't seem to be selling as well. I honestly think the 1800 is just as good for what I do. If you want a loader, you would be wise to go 2200. I went 2200 because I don't know what I will use my tractor for until I'm done with it. 20 years from now I'll know if an 1800 would have been enough!

I bought the G2460G 5 March and have just over 30 hours on it. We mow as the whim strikes us; usually three to five acres. The principal change I would like is a faster steering ratio because we have several hundred trees to get around. The electric power steering has been flawless. It is one of those luxuries that soon seem necessary. Yes, I would like temperature and fuel gauges, but cannot offer a logical reason why I need them. The G has a low fuel warning light and a 5.8 gallon tank, so running dry is not a high risk. Modern engines seem to have effective temperature control, given adequate maintenance. I paid no sales tax because Oregon has none. As to fading of the plastic hood, that has not occurred yet, but I have seen older metal Kubotas badly faded, so assume that will also occur on the G2460G. The last G identifies a gasoline version of the Kubota three-cylinder 750CC engine. The 24 refers to the horsepower rating at 3600 RPM. At the governed speed of 3200 the engine puts out about 20 horsepower. Seems more than enough.
Thanks for the info. I have not yet ruled out the BX, but I am looking a little harder at the ZD21. I have only found one person that said they did not like it. I plan to cut a FEW yards on the side to help make the note, and the ZD would lend itself better to that. As for my own use, all I need is a lawn mower. If I had the BX, I would be tempted to spend more money on implements that I will probably use a couple times, and then they would just take up space in my shop. The ZD would be almost $1000 less, and there would be no temptation to by implements. Still undecided. I very much like the BX, and the ZD. I believe I will strike up a thread in the lawn & garden forum on the ZD subject. I'm curious to know if they would be expected to last as long as the BX.
