How about "it depends". I own everything from .17 to a .50 BMG, and most everything in between. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I've collected for decades and have 4 large 1500 pound safes completely full. The caliber and particular firearm in that caliber I pick depends on several things, not limited to, my mood, what I want to do, how I want to do it, what I'm wearing, where I am going, how long I'll be gone, what I may face, what I may not face, what states I may cross, who is with me, and how long I'll be out.
The other day it was fun to have my .454 Casull in one hand and my S&W .500 in the other. However, after 2 boxes of 500 grain shells, I no longer wanted to shoot that caliber. The .50 BMG is great fun, but most ranges won't allow that caliber, and several states have issues with using it for hunting. (which I don't get; it is really unlikely to just injure something with that caliber and have it suffer)
