I don't loan equipment and I don't borrow equipment. My wife does run the 2210 when she feels the need. She lets me run her LX176 when it needs to be serviced. I let her run my L118 in a pinch. We try very hard to keep our equipment in like new condition. My wife even washes her weed whacker when she is finished using it. The point is that we will help anyone anytime they need help without expecting anything in return, however, if the help is not appreciated (even a simple thank you), we probably will not make the effort again. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Yea, I guess I do spend a bit of my time helping out and, for the most part, I don't mind. Some people will take advantage though and unfortunately, for a while, one of my S-I-L's did fit into that category. She had "little" things that needed doing around her house and yard that used to take chunks of time out of my day. What was really annoying is that she always asked me to do them in front of a room full of family and friends when you couldn't really say "no". Eventually I announced that I'd give her the same deal that I gave her sister, my wife. I told her that I worked at our house for food and sex and that I knew that she didn't cook worth a flip. Strangely, after that she didn't want anyone to see my truck parked outside her house ... at any time. If I did go over there to help out in an emergency, someone in the family always noticed and teased the heck out of her. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Just one of the benefits of living in a small town. It did however make her stop and think about how badly she wanted something fixed before she made the request,

I don't loan or borrow equipment, like tractors or cars, but I'm glad to loan out hand tools or small power tools, and I've borrowed a few over the years. But, like others here, I'd rather loan out my expertise along with the tools, and hope to get a helping hand when I need it too, and so far it's worked out pretty well, but I never go into it with the expectation that it will all even out someday. I do what I do and they do too.....
