KrisR, for comparision last week a 1988 Ford 1720(Shibaura) with factory loader, 730 hrs, Ag tires and adjustable width, shuttle transmission brought $10,300 at a private auction. That is 4 - 5 horses less. On mine the hour meter only goes to 3 ( 999) digits so anything above restarts at 0. 286 hrs seems low for a 16 y/o tractor

Make sure there is no damage to the radiator from battery acid. Check the fan belt and knuckle on the steering gear arm ( by the clutch) and pedal wear re 286 or 1286 hrs. I have 1200 hrs and 6000 - 8000 hrs withcare is possible to an engine. Good Luck and let us know what you do.
I have a front PTO kit that is live off the front of the engine with an electric clutch that fits. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
