TC-40D
SuperSteer axle
arm rests
17LA loader w/72" heavy duty bucket
QA loader attachment
48" pallet forks
757C Backhoe
Firebird Fiberglass Canopy
grill guard
6 rear wheel weights (300 pounds)
3 point weight bar w/full rack of cast iron weights (350 pounds)
prepped, delivered, w/full tank of diesel, on-site instruction, and yes I did buy locally.

$28,197.00

Bob even though there have been price increases since my purchase in 2003 I believe there is a bit of wiggle room on your pricing. IE: a SuperSteer axle is roughly $1500. pallet forks $1000. and a BH $7500. so you can deduct these off final pricing. However your comfort level should be the final denominator.

28,197.00 price 2003 for Blue Thunder.

Now, assume three scenarios, each year price increases 5%, 7.5% or 10%. This model might offer an explanation why prices seem higher in 2006 than in 2003? What do you think? Did I do the math correctly?
Bob

5% per year increase in price model

28,197.00 price 2003

Year 3 $35029.04

10% per year increase in price model

I had to dig out my receipt... it was 07/01/05 and that DID NOT include the canopy and block heater. They were an extra $330 & $50. Yes it was new, not plan a. There was also an area Case dealer that offered me a DX 40 equipped the same for that price.

Bob,

I'm going off on a little tangent but.....

I'm in the early shopping phase and am considering a TC40 spec'd out very close to what you're looking at. Since you've included draft control, are you planning on doing some plowing? If so, how much and any concerns about the hydro?

I've got two hang ups about hydro. The first is the concern about ground engaging implements. I wouldn't say it's my primary task but it is something I want to be able to do a bit of (3 acres at my house and 10 at dad's). I'm not sure how much is too much. Posts about HST getting hot and pressure reliefs blowing off (esp boomers) have me wondering.

My second concern is driving around at full throttle all the time. In the past I did a lot of little running around, moving stuff type jobs using the foot throttle on our old gear tractor w/o many revs. I rather not have the thing screaming all day if the task at hand doesn't require full power.

any thoughts?

I'm also looking at Kubotas with GST and Massey with PowerShuttle. The wet clutch power shuttles seem like a pretty nice compromise between hst and standard gear. Wish new holland had a power shuttle option and not just SSS.

If you don't need full power, there is no need for HST (or gear, for that matter) Boomer engines to be "screaming all day". There is essentially the same engine RPM/Torque relationship between both gear and HST tractors. A good portion of my work is done at 1800 - 2000 RPM, not 2600 (which is the screaming PTO speed for both HST and gear Boomers).

Right -- just because an engine will run at full throttle all day there is no need to feel it has to. The rated speeds are more critical for PTO driven implements. The DX29 has one speed for the rear PTO and a second, slower one, for the mid. Other than that, use just as much throttle as you need to work efficiently.

Tim, I plan on doing some plow work. Not a lot, but some. I figure that draft control makes life easier for a someone with limited skill (me /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif). I also assume it is easier to get the draft control installed now rather than later. Price, convenience, etc.
