Do gold finches "flock"? Never so many (40 +/-) at a feeder (and ground) before.

I think they do, we have a group of around 25 that hang out on our 4 feeders. I really like those little rascals. They are beautiful and seem so happy all the time. Even as they fly, they make happy little chirping sounds.
