dougster i'm also a poor unemployed almost old man but i'm doing my kids a favor by spending it all so they don't have to fight over a couple of $$. the hyd works for the rocks much better the fixed so...

Nobody is poorer than me. I can out-poor anybody. I was even poor when I was working. Now that I am unemployed, I am even poorer. I didn't think it was even possible! :( And as I prepare to start my little tractor-based business to try to survive this unemployment... registrations, taxes, fees, CPAs, attorneys and remaining equipment purchases are taking me ever closer to the "Big B"... bankruptcy! :(

I'm sure the hydraulic thumb is a very convenient plus... you don't even have to get out of your seat to pickup that great big rock... but how much better can it be than fixed in terms of rock size or weight? Yes, I will have to take a couple minutes break to position the fixed thumb, but again... this is only for rocks I won't be able to handle with the BH bucket, FEL bucket or grapple. And if the rock is too big regardless of all that... I simply dig that even bigger hole and push it in! :D

The bottom line is that I can use that nearly $2K difference for other critical tractor implements. Until I figure out what tools I need to make a profit, the hydraulic thumb will have to wait.
