Mowing FEL and mower deck operation with independent lift

I think your dealer is mistaken. Indep. mmm lift uses one of the dual scv ports (loader curl function). So one loader line has to be disconnected and you would use your loader control to operate it. It is gravity down.
Has anyone installed a third scv on a 2305?? I would like to put a bucket grapple on and use a third scv for it.

Don--sorry but I don't have any parts numbers or pics. The service manager wants to wait and see the 2520 before committing anything--but confirmed that they would (most likely) be adding a 3rd SCV, and some kind of control lever to operate the MMM lift separate from the loader. This is kind of critical to me, since I usually just take off the bucket when mowing, and need to lift the loader frame when I get close to the front porch (in a corner).

I agree.

My 2305 has the independent lift and you have to use the loader joystick to lift the deck. I cant remember the port number but it is the hose with yellow coloured cap you must remove (going to FEL) and replace it with the one from the cylinder lifting your MMM.

I have not tried out how functional this would be but I sure wish there was another control to truley make it independant.

What happens when you have the FEL and MMM installed does the MMM stay in the up position when you unplug the hose and put the FEL hose back in?

Thanks...

Plumber:

You should be able to get the 3rd SCV and use it to control the MMM lift, the lever gets located on the right fender near the rock-shaft control (that's how the dealer set up my 3250 and it should be similar to your set-up). Without the 3rd SCV I believe that you are stuck using the loader control to activate the lift.

All the new tractors with the 3rd valve option already have it on the scv valve, but with the port plugged and no handles.
The tractor without 3rd scv option you have to use a diverter or a new directional valve and power beyond kit. That's what I seen so far. Also I have a independent lift system on my tractor and It did require me to use the loader ports, and now I just installed a new directional valve and a power beyond kit just for mmm lift system. My tractor never offered a 3rd valve on the scv, plus the John deere scv valve is very expensive.

As an update and request for info--my 2520 has been at the dealer for a week or so, getting all the hydraulics hooked up and waiting for the LX-5 to arrive. When I went to check on it, the independent lift was installed as Plumber did his--NOT how they originally described it to me. This means that you would have to use one of the sets of loader functions to control the mmm--not what I wanted do. Has anyone actually installed an independent lift on a 2520 and not used the loader ports?? The dealer was going to pose the question in a DTAC /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif and we'll see what info they get. The Power Beyond set-up is done, and looks great, can't wait to get the log splitter.

Here is a pic of the height control knob on the 2520. Still no answer on wether there is another way to control the hydraulic cylinder. Seems that adding a 3rd SCV just routes the connections to the back of the tractor, and then would have all the extra hoses etc to get to the ind lift. The issue is in the DTAC system, we'll see what transpires.

The answer that came back from JD was that the independent lift needed to be controlled by one of the loader functions--meaning you do need to lose one of the bucket functions by swapping hoses. There was an implication that if hooked up differently that it would void the warranty. I guess this is OK if you never mow with the loader frame on, or if you take the bucket off, at least you can still lift the loader frame up. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
