Thanks for the replies.

There is not a easy way for the truck to pull close
to the pour site. My neighbor's driveway is the closest hard
surface to the destination. The truck could travel part
way across my lawn, but that would be more work
fixing the ruts left.

I had 7 yards delivered a few years ago when I expanded
the deck around the pool. I had three wheelbarrows and
5 friends helping. Tipped the driver pretty good for his

Oh they love to wait. You have fifteen minutes to unload the truck. Then it's a buck an a half a minute there after. Yup, ninety dollars an hour. You talk about time flying? I will be doing the same job tomorrow. Because of the lay of the land the truck will be parked on a drive three hundred feet from the pour. We will use my 4300 with a 430 loader and a skid loader to move the concrete.

I have never moved it this far before but if the concrete is a tight mix there should be little if any settling in the buckets. My neighbor will be driving the truck and is ready for a little delay. We hope to have it moved in less than a half hour. I will let you know how we do.

The project went well and we moved the concrete in about twenty minutes. The last load in the skid steer just made it up the hill. The route was wet and rain made it slippery. The 4300 did better but could not carry as much as the skid steer.

What is the "working time" for ready mix concrete? I know it would depend alot on the weather and dryness of the base but just ballpark. I'm thinking of getting 60 feet of 36" wide walkway poured and wondering, if there was just me, would I have enough time to pour it straight from the truck into the form, then level it and finish it before it got too stiff?

Sixty feet should not be a problem if the truck can reach the forms. A bright sunny day will make you work faster. If you are worried about it slowing it down, just cover it with plastic.

I had a thirty square foot pad to make for some air conditioning coils Saturday. I grabbed the portland on a pallet, the concrete mixer, the six foot bucket, and the handy little 1/3 yard concrete bucket I make.
