Does anyone have any experience with toothbars or trash forks of different types for ripping out brushy undergrowth?

I'd say toothbar minimum, and GRAPPLE optimum. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Do a search on Grapple, and someone had a post with a bunch of pics of some heavy brush he cleared in 1/2 hr. Amazing attachment...................J

I think the Anbo Grapple, might be the ultimate for this task. I have built lots of tools for my tractors, but believe this one is the most useful and productive one I've ever done. I tried to make it to perform similar to the Anbo.

I continue to find uses for it.

This past week I loaded around 25,000 lbs of scrap tin with it.
I was able to get about 5000 lb per load on a 16' trailer with nothing but a few pallets for sideboards. The scrap boys I was giving the tin to thought they had found a gold mine.

It's really good on the small brush and vines.

I think Anbo may be mfg in Washington.

Depending on how much you have to do, my recommendations (if you havn't gotten your tractor yet) would be 45 to 50 HP tractor with with HST transmission.

Just my opinion. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I have been using a 6 teeth toothbar and find it to be very useful for this task. Mine is from Woods Equipment, bought through my tractor dealer.
One that I find interesting, and may be even better for undergrowth and bushes is the EZ Landscaper toothbar from H&H manufacturing. Here's a link to their page: EZ Landscaper attachment
TBN members have reported great service and prices on toothbars from Markham Welding as well. I don't see a landscaper type on their site, but I believe they may fabricate one for you if you so desire. Here's their site:

Either way you go, a toothbar, to me, is an indispensible tool for your loader bucket. John

The FEL model looks like the ticket. No resprouts that occur with brush cutting. I wish I had time to build it.

MikePA: Cleaned up long URL. It's simple not to do this. Just insert a descriptive word or two between the {url=http://whatever}Enter words here{/url} instead of the entire URL. Replace parentheses with brackets.

Mac, I was going to send this via PM, but you're not accepting them, so here goes.
When you post a long link like the one in this post, it makes us all have to scroll to the side to be able to read the post, very annoying. The best way to put a link in is to copy the address you want, and then in the posting window, go to "Instant Markup" below that window and click URL. Right click in that window and paste your URL there, click OK, then enter a name for your link, click OK. Very compact, and no more side scrolling!! Thanks and Happy new year. John

I'll try it a few times, thanks. I think you taught me to type in color, too. Thanks and hope 2005 is a good one for you and yours.

Great info. I agree, If money were no object, the grapple would be top on my list. The EZ Landscaper attachment (thanks for the link KiotiJohn) looks great. The closeness of the tines looks like it will snare the brush better than a more widely spaced toothbar. Haven't got the tractor yet and am looking to put my implement package togther as a whole so my CFO doesn't notice so much.... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
