I have a New Holland TC40 and want to add a FEL hydraulic bucket thumb, something like "The Thumb" produced by Greens machine shop in Illinois. I also want to add a tooth bar to the bucket. Since "The Thumb" is offered in several different lengths, should I calculate for a closed thumb at the leading edge of the bucket without the tooth bar or calculate for more of an "over bite" between the tooth bar teeth? I understand the mesh aspect as I have a backhoe with a hydraulic thumb. Usage will be residential brush, rock and firewood log movement.
