I have no idea what you are talking about. What the heck is a mud-bug?

Crawfish, crawdad. Never done it, but assume he is washing the mud out and leaving the bugs behind using water and the wood.

When you "purge" crawfish you are soaking them in salt water to make them clean their insides out. When we purge we will cover the crawfish with water and use one can of salt. soak for 10min rinse with fresh water and let soak for 5 min. then repeat with the 10 min salt and and rinse. I find it gets them much cleaner. . . How much are ya'll paying per pound, cooked 40lbs sat. we got select for $2 a lb. they were nice.

Sierra, your quite welcome.

Big Bri we gave 2.09 a pound, about 30# per sack, we bought 5 sacks. They where called Jumbo Select.. Jumbo maybe, they where nice crawdads but not select in my books but they still cooked up mighty fine though...

150lb of crawfish. . . that is a lot. If i try to cook more than 20 to 30 lbs at a time i'm going to mess something up. over cooked rubbery crawfish will ruin your boil quick.

Chuch K,
How long have you been in Texas? You seem like a "born and bred coonass". VBG

Bri,
I paid $1.99 lb for boiled crawfish last Friday in Covington. Plus they included lots of garlic cloves!!!! I paid $2.75 lb for a sack for Easter Sunday. They claim that they wash and pick and purge before sacking. We only found one dead in the entire sack and they were very clean.
