FEL capacity with R4s vs turfs

My turfs are better in snow than any R4's I have been around. I am also supprised at the traction I get in dirt with my R4's. All my box blade and FEL work in dirt, my turfs have never let me down, can actually bog engine. Now when I get in mud, I wish I had R4's or R1's, but that is the only time. Philip.

I also think I get better traction in snow with r3 tires than r4 tires. My tractor is the same model as my friends but they have r4 tires. I do very little work with the loader installed on the tractor and the turfs ride MUCH better than the r4's. If I was going to use the loader all the time, get the r4 tires. If most of your work is loaderless, get turfs.

Are your tires loaded as well?

Turfs are not loaded. In snow I do use a ballas box. Old set up with R1's required chains, marked blacktop pretty bad. Philip.

My turfs are not filled. I am on level ground which helps too. I normally use the rear blade because it is quick and takes less hp than the blower. I have heard that chains work well with turfs because the chain does not fall between the tread lugs.

My rear turfs on my BX are filled. I do fine in snow, and it doesn't mark up the yard. But if the ground is really wet, I do use my JD rider sometimes to keep from compacting the soil.
