Here's my cad mockup for new FEL. When the cylinders get here I'll double check measurments and start cutting metal. This lets me see the full range of motion so that I can place cross member between arms and placement for single curl cylinder. I plan to have QC plate that bucket or forks can be interchanged.

Here's another angle. Yes that grille is purple as most of the sheet metal will be.

purple as most of the sheet metal will be. Get a great deal on the paint or do you want to be able to easily identify it in a police lineup /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

cleatus, nice project, looks like itll come out good
are you going for new or s/h hydraulics?

on a different note, have you ever put hydraulics on a small engine, say 12HP single cyl?
any advice for someone thinking of building a FEL for a really tiny tractor?

thanks

Good looking tractor Cleatus what is it an H or a C. If you ever want to go to a wide front end a combine axle will work good. Are you gonna mount the pump on the fron of the tractor or use the tractors hydraulics. The C should have a place to tap into the hydraulic lines for a live hydraulics. An H the pump stops if the clutch is depressed.
Mith Ive mounted a few pumps on different models of lawn tractos and have all worked pretty good. Theres several methods to do this and most are easy but some require you to remove the deck and use the cransk mower pulley to run it.

It's a VAC with live gear driven vane pump. This will be changed to gear pump later. I now have lift working and will be adding cross member and single curl cylinder. This will be attached to sub frame that will be my version of QC.
Here's a shot.

Here's the center arm cylinder mount. Welds are 6011 with 7018 to finish and will wrap pipe with strap later and add gussets to both sides of arm.

Dummy, I just don't like JI Case red/orange and I had a gal. of the rustX grape. I planed on using the grape as a base coat, but Realy like the way it looks.

Mirth. I had planed on a FEL for the Suburban with the 9.2 Wisconsin. I would of used 1.5x3" tube instead of the 2x3. Imay still do this in the future.

Are you at all concerned that this might get a bit "tippy" with those narrow front wheels?

Looks like good work so far, but I'd be really wary of a loader on a tricycle framed tractor. Those things are quite tippy without a loader.

Nice work Cleatus. I can appreciate your mock ups. No mater how much work I do on paper, I always like to test my work with a mock up when possible. Maybe I will get it right some day /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif The attachment is a drawing I made and used for my fel.

Here is a "before and after" with close to finished FEL. I have to complete the bucket linkage.

Tippy is realitive to the common cents of the fool ,in my case. operating the equipment. I'm not overly worried as I learned a long time ago not to drive with bucket over foot off ground, unless your on leval ground. I've seen more wide front ones tipp over than I ever heard of tricycles.

You make a good point there. For someone who's not used to tractors it might be a problem, but like you say, even wide front ones go over.

True enough, I've come close with my Yanmar, and it's about 4' wide front and back, just by dropping a wheel in a hole I didn't know was there. Fortunately I only had the bucket up a foot or so. It just seems like a "triangle" would be easier to tip than a "square" with the load way out front, but you're right, on flat ground it shouldn't be a problem long as you don't hit a hole like I did..........
