FEL Control Question

   / FEL Control Question #31
load check? (had to google it)...
hmmm... Is it the "lack-of" load check that causes the bounce I've been experiencing if I don't baby the control valve?

I would think maybe it could. Without load checks if you just move the lever real slow and just a little the load could go all the way down. They catch and hold the load when you go from down to up.

dhostetler , you ask this question in another post.

Is there a way to 't' the line into the FEL control that would basically select power for the loader control or the 3 point hitch? I could just plug the pb port on the loader control in this scenario...

The answer is, yes. You can separate the flow into two circuits by using this valve. Once connected, it will allow you to select between FEL and 3pt.

You would install this valve after the pump and connect one of the ports to the FEL circuit, and the other port to the 3pt line. Handle in selects one port, and handle out selects the other port.

I am not saying this is practical, but is just an alternative, and it does have about 1/4 the price of a new valve.

About the only reason that you can not just keep your current valve in series with the hyd flow, is the back pressure that could be generated by the 3pt. Your return port may only be rated for 500 psi, and back pressure can obtain tractor relief pressure of 2500 psi.

Some people have done this for years with no problems. So this will mean that the return port would be the weakest link.

dhostetler,

Looking at your valve, I see 7 hoses. What did the return hose connect to , and what did the PB hose connect to?

If you look back at the photo, both the return and pb ports are the right elbows on the right side.

I'm still working w/ a company who may have a part for me. So hopefully that's the best case scenario.

I think I would go with the circuit select method, Before plugging off the return line. Thanks for the link to the valve selector.

I've ended up biting the bullet and buying a new joystick controller - the snow is piling up too much for me to have the tractor out of service. You guys helped me figure out the issue - thanks!
