FEL Crane

The PHD is from TSC (Speeco???). It works fantastic on the little 4100. I was apprehensive about trying it on there after two years earlier using it on a full-size farm tractor. But the way the lift arm is on those diggers you can choose from three holes to mount to and can find the one that lifts it off the ground and still allows full penetration. I always dug with engine at idle, and occasionally killed the engine but never sheared a pin. It is possible to get the auger stuck in the ground if you run it beyond the point where the flighting is full of dirt, but you learn that one pretty quick. The cure for a stuck auger is to disconnect it and crank it backwards with a pipe wrench. The little 4100 is so small and manuverable, it worked better than the full-size tractor after you learned the lifting limitations, etc. It was nice to be able to back it into some tite spots and dig.

Thanks for the info. I have been considering one, but wondering how my 4100 would handle it.
