FEL edge mods using a pipe?

You may want to try high density plastic like this UHMW Plastic

Or someone once mentioned using the composite decking and bolting under the lip.

I have it on my list to do one of these days, but haven't yet.

I did try some vinyl caps I had leftover from the vinyl lattice work I did, this year, but it isn't holding up as I don't think it takes the cold too well.

FOr $30 you can buy a 1 3/4" x 12 section and rip it down the middle for two really nice wear bars. They would outlast the 2x4 for sure. I might have to try that one.

Here is the vinyl I tried, but as I said it has broken off on the ends, so back to the drawing board. I guess I am going to have to break down and order some of the plastic myself.

And here it is on the bucket.

I haven't decided if I want to continue with a channel over the lip or go with a solid bar that I countersink and bolt from below. Any comments out there?

Why couldn't you take 2-3 6" C-clamps and clamp them to the front of the bucket so the ridgid side is down.

The clamps will provide about 1-2" front end lift to keep the edge from ever digging in. No mods to the bucket are needed and the clamps are relatively inexpensive.

I'm trying to visualize how you'd do that one. I think mouting on the sides would be easier than the front of the bucket and the wear would not be an issue with the countersank bolts.

In your method does the C-Clamp act as a kind of shoe so you don't use the plastic/2x4 etc.?

I want the entire edge to be able to hit the drive so I can scrape down to near pavement, but at the same time don't want to damage my pavement. The regular edge is working, but it is starting to show signs of wear which I though this would prevent and be easier on the drive.

Do a search on: horse mat snow edge.

This is a topic that comes up every year. Tres Crows has posted a picture of heavy polyurathane edge he installed. This was a few years ago.

What I would like to know is how does one remove driveway ice with one of these things on the blade? Don't see any commercial units around here using anything like that.
