What is the deal with the FEL bucket float position on the valve. When I push the stick forward it has to go through the down position before it gets to float position. When you do that you are putting some serious down force into the thing and cutting into the ground. Am I missing something here? Thanks for any comments.

The bucket is usually flat not pointed down when I go into the float position. I am usually going back-wards and I go through the down quickly and it does not seem to be a problem. I usually don't give it enough time to put any down pressure on the bucket.

You will get use to it, heck, I didn't even know I had a float till the second week I had the tractor, when I went into the float position I thought I broke the joystick. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Raise the bucket a foot then slam the stick forward instead of doing it slowly ... you'll see the difference then.
Cheers!

Yes, don't baby the joystick where it goes into the down position, push it through the down right to where it clicks into float.

The valve has a "detent" in it that you have to override to get to the float position.

Since your profile is not filled out I have no idea what tractor you own, but on my B7510 I also have a "float" position when dumping the bucket. If I push the joystick all the way to the right, past the detent, the bucket will theoretically dump faster than it will when powering it down.

Please fill out your profile so we can better assist you in the future.

My tractor has that as well, Bill. Out of curiosity... does your joystick "stick" in this position? Mine will only stay in the arm float, I have to hold it in the bucket float.

Freds,

Mine does not "stick" in the dump detent position either. I am not sure how useful that feature is anyway since I seem to be able to dump as fast under power as I can when "floating". I had really forgotten about that position until I read the original post in this thread.

I never use it either. Thanks for the answer, I guess they're made not to stick in the dump float.
