A chemical company close by gives them away free for the taking.

Any idea what other specific types of companies use them? Thought I might do a search of my local neighborhood. I'm hoping to find some for rainwater collection.

IBC totes are ALL over. They are usually given away by big businesses and those that take them sell them for what the market will bear.

As far as forks for a B7800 - Why not get both? If you have them on the rear you can lift more, if you have them on the front you can lift stuff higher.

/edit - and if you get both you can load both so you don't have to worry much about balance:)
I've both.

If you don't mind a little drive to Richmond, IN.... here's a link for you.

Be SURE that you get the "food grade" if you're going to use it for rainwater collection. These had a food based product in it. I'd stay away from anything that had petroleum based products in it if you're using the collected water for anything involving human consumption.

If you do go to Richmond, be sure to leave a couple for me!! I'm getting ready to start my rainwater system too.

My L3200 can't quite lift an IBC tote half full of water with forks on the loader. I picked up 2 for watering & a couple with paint dregs in them to use as a mobile toolbox or for wood similar to what you are planning. Cut one & the paint is drying, we'll have to see how it works out.

Not sure how much wood will weigh compared to water. It floats & can't be stacked as densely as water, so that bodes well.

Generally your 3pt will lift more than a loader & be more stable while doing it. A carry-all might fit under a pallet & will be a LOT cheaper than forks but the "forks" can't be adjusted. They seem to come in 1000 & 2000lbs ratings from what I've see. An adapter to put SSQA forks on a 3pt is stupid expensive. You'll have issues getting anything you can't lift by hand onto a 3pt fork setup unless you have a TnT kit.

Check Craigslist. there are a pile of people selling clean & not so clean IBC totes all over Colorado at least. $100ish for clean potable ones around here. The one with paint dregs in it still was $20.
