Hello everyone.

Not sure if everyone remembers but I was the one that had the hydraulic issue back in the winter when everything froze up on my Kioti CK35HST.

I did get it working again and then began to experience problems with the power of the FEL. I pulled the filters and noticed metal filings in both so I changed them both and drained and replaced the hydraulic oil.
That seemed to do the job as the FEL operation was back to normal.

That was about 5 hours of operating time ago and now the issue seems to be returning. Browsing through posts here I think it might be the hydraulic pump but thought I'd as for opinions before ordering a new one.

The symptoms are as follows:
- When cold it operates completely normal however once it warms up the FEL has less and less lifting power.
- If the bucket is empty it can raise, lower and rotate through the full range without problem.
- Add 200lbs of dirt and it lifts very slowly to about 3 feet off the ground and stops.
- It doesn't leak down and will hold that position.
- Let it cool down for 3-4 hours and it good to go for another 20 minutes or so before it starts to fail.

Thoughts ???

Before I condemned the pump, any chance the relief valve is defective? A pressure test and flow rate test. Relief valve may have something hung it it especially since you have found crap in the system.. Of course something let go or there wouldn't have been the sudden influx of metal.

I will certainly check but would that cause it to only work properly when cold? Wouldn't it perform poorly regardless of the oil temp if it was the relief valve?

Probably. Of course if we are talking about an internal leak in a relief valve or a pump I suppose when the oil is thick vs. thin would apply to both?

True.
I've got a email into the closest dealer to see what he thinks and to have a new relief valve sent out. I'll let you know what happens.
Thanks.

Probably the pump if there are metal filings in the filter. Do the filings match the metal your pump is made of?

Your probably right, but it would not hurt to examine other less expensive possibilities. But I agree, the finding of new metal in the fluid. is NOT a good thing...not good at all.

Wrong type hydraulic oil.

There are different ways to fix problems, you can replace parts or troubleshoot.

You might replace all the parts and still have the problem.

Buy a hydraulic pressure gauge and find the problem.

Thanks Xfaxman I'm going to pick up a gauge to check pressure. Its not due to using the wrong hydraulic oil as its the same oil that has always been used.

I also just heard back from the dealer. He's pretty sure its the pump. He said that it likely happened when it froze up and I ran it for a while trying to thaw it out. He also mentioned adding about a cup of methyl hydrate to the hydraulic oil next winter.
If all else points to the pump being the culprit... I guess I'll have to bite the bullet ($1800 CAN) :(
