With the tractor running & joystick in neutral and trying to raise/lower & dump/curl the bucket, the stick is hard to move in either direction. Can't finesse it anymore. Not sure I even know how to explain it.

Let's say I have something on the forks and I want gently raise or lower it to a certain height, the joystick is hard to maneuver & when it finally does, it either throws the forks too high or too low.

Hope I explained it well enough.

Could someone explain what's happening?

Thanks

Have you lubricated all the linkages the connect the lever to the valve?

Yes I have. It's like it locks in the neutral position.
Thanks for the reply.

Reconnect the QD's if you have them. Put a gage in the system and monitor pressure.

Mine does this in the winter, but thats because water gets in the cable and freezes. I doubt thats whats happening to you. It could be corrosion from trapped water in the cable thats making it difficult to operate the stick.

Motorcycle shops (well, the ones that STILL serve bikes without shaft drives - a dying breed, fortunately) have cable lubers for cheap.

Small aerosol (I know, the environment) can with a straw that connects to a fitting that goes around the bare inner wire - you can figure the rest.
If you have trouble getting the cable free just use the can and straw, aim it as best you can.

There SHOULD BE an intermediate position where the flow is very low, as in "Finesse".

If there are cables between the joystick and the valves that'll most likely be where the problem is.

If you can get a bit of lubricant into the cable that might loosen it up, but it may also mean water and dust are in there too.

You do not have cable controls, so it is not that. Pull back the rubber boot where your joystick enters the valve. See if anything is loose or broke in there. For a while, they used a cheesy potmetal "L" shaped bracket that would break. They are now made of steel and last a lifetime. Generally it is one of these two things, both are an easy fix.
