If you are working in hard soil it can be a benefit to have a smaller bucket. The longer the cutting edge the less pressure per inch of edge. I opted for a 60" bucket vs. 72" as I find it cuts the clay around here a little better. There is a trade vs. capacity - but so far that hasn't been a big issue.
