FEL QUESTION

i have a bad habit of working into a pile of dirt from the bottom, i drive in with fel angled down and curl as i am going it, the buckek fills fine but then i try and lift, and it won't, seems i am tring to lift the full bucket + everything that is on top of it.if i back out a little the bucket lifts fine. being a full blown worry wart HOW WOULD U KNOW IF YOUR FEL IS WORKING UP TO SPECS? this was a hardpacked pile, and the bucket does everything i ask, lift the front end, knock over trees, move snow, etc. again is there anyway to test the output of the fel? did do a lot of work with it tho. i think i am just thinking i have a tank here instead of a b2400/w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

I'd think you would have enough power to pick up the pile. I have no trouble running into a load of packed dirt with my BX22 and picking up a full scoop!?!? I have the standard 48" bucket so I'm not sure if yours is bigger.

Frank I'm having the same thoughts, but I've only used mine a couple of times. I've read post where the rear ends have come off the ground. I have a 3010 with ballast and I'm using a 6' RFM for counterweight. My bucket seems to have plenty of power when curling it back but just doesn't seem to have the lifting capacity I was expecting. I'm new at this but was expecting more. Let me know if you find out different on this.

My BX22 is the same way. I back out of the pile just a bit and she lifts fine then.

It's easier to first take the bucket and shave some material off the pile, much like you would if you were scraping it towards yourself with a garden hoe. Then you have a loose pile to work into. The toothbar made a big improvement when going into a pile, and with some practice you can shave the pile on the way up with the bucket..............chim

When you load from the bottom of the pile you are attempting to lift the bucket plus everything above it. Since dirt is fairly heavy it should not surprise you that your B2400 is unable to lift it. I push into the bottom but as I push in I begin to roll back and lift, it works much better that way. Another method is to knock some dirt down, especially after you have worked into the pile and then scoop that up. Your tractor is operating normally. J

STEVE: i don't think there is anything wrong with my fel OR YOURS. when i work it as CHIM and TRESCROWS suggest it works fine, i just sometimes forget to curl as i am going in, then i am trying to lift the whole pile, and as chim say the toothbar really helps in loosening up the pile.. i just have to learn to slow down.

TRESCROW: when i work it like you say it works fine, ijust have to remember to do it/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif and it will lift the rear end especially when i am not into the pile straight, the pucker factor goes up real fast./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

If you rear is lifting, I won't go there, you need a counter balance. Something like a useful boxblade or a weight box would be nice and then your--er--rear will not lift. J
