Why are the FEL buckets so close to the front end of the tractor on JD's and so far out front on most other brands? I realize the further out the more reach you have. Just seems odd the JD is one of the few where it is close to the front. Seems you would have more power up close.

I've wondered about that too since I think you are correct in saying that the closer loaders are probably somewhat stronger. Visibility is also a big thing, and many tractors are sold based on the impression someone gets sitting on one in a dealer's lot.

I would say the farther out the loader is the more strain it puts on the tractor with load in it.. think of it this way,,, hold a 2 lbs rock with your arm stretch out?
