FEL Question

Since the O rings were replaced I have not had any more problems with leaks.
But my bucket does drift down a little faster than I would like !
My loader arms do not drift down at all.
I have 100 hours on my DK now and the tilt cylinder leak was the only problem.The tractor is great !!

Vince, I found some at baileynet.com but since I don't know how long they should be I can't figure the price yet. I'm guessing somewhere around $140 each. I'm going to give my dealer a chance to fix it before I do anything.

No offense tractorhill, but guys go to your local dealer first. At least contact them and see what they say. That's what they are there for. As far as KIOTI loaders go, they are a good loader...yes they have had some problems with the things mentioned. The best thing to do is contact them AND your dealer. I've installed quite a few KIOTI loaders and have only had 3 fittings come out, and one bad cylinder but, I may just be lucky. KIOTI is a growing company and the way that companies find out things is by warranty work remittances and dealer/customer feedback.

No offense Kiohio. You are a dealer and TractorHill is a dealer. For that I think WE are furtunate to have you both to answer questions. I personally see no problem with someone offering to accept phone calls from anywhere and giving us advice/tips. Especially a knowledgable dealer such as yourself AND TractorHill! Certainly one is not going to haul their tractor from Ohio to Virginia for service. There is nothing like experience, you may know tips TractorHill does not and vice versa. If ones machine is still under warranty then I would think their dealer would be the final place to deal with, on the other hand if it is out of warranty and one is paying for a repair then wherever valid advice comes from is helpful. I am sure you are a terrific dealer and my dealer TractorHill has been terrific as well. I would value both of your opinions via text on here or on the phone.
On the fittings, these "push-in" fittings just seems a cheap way to go. Last evening I had two push out from the pressure of the grease going in. I also had two more pull out when I was removing the fitting connector on the grease gun from the fitting. That was corrected by being very careful when pulling the connector off the fitting. I still think threaded fittings would be more appropriate/better.

I was not in any way meaning to put down (for lack of a better word) tractorhill. I agree experience is the best (not always kindest) teacher. But I have been in the place where someone has talked to EVERYONE BUT the home dealer (me being in both shoes at one time or the other). Then things can become muddled up between dealers. Alot of times the problem can be resolved easily between customer/dealer. I am not trying to put anyone down for asking questions or wanting other opinions. It's just me and my experiences talking.
It's hard to get across the 'net the way you want to say things but all you can do is hope people will take it the right way.
IE; the fittings, the screw in would be better. I agree. They may even have changed that but, we won't know until a new batch of loaders comes in.

Thanks for the offer. I was going to call when I’m at the tractor and its 8 miles away from my house. I haven’t been able to play for a couple weekends. I called the last time I was out but you weren’t in.

I was going to try what JB said to determine what the problem is “To figure out the problem just disconnect the hyd. hoses for the bucket. If it still moves it's the cylinders”. . Does this sound good to you?

After I’m sure where the problem is I’ll contact my dealer to see what steps need to be taken.

Also thanks Kiohio. I have dealers in Indiana less than 60 mi away if I need non-warranty work.

Sean, good news, my dealer was able to get the FEL manufacture to replace the tilt cylinders on warranty even though I'm 3 months out. Apparently there's been serveral of these problems. Dealers, when you have a good one are great. He is also doing a modification to the seat to keep it from cracking again.

My 1914 is about 3 months old. The Kioti branded FEL is made by KMW (Kansas Machine Works). No problems so far with either tractor or implement grease fittings. I use Lincoln Power Luber which is motorized using rechargeable battery.

Hi Vince, thought I would get back with you on the tilt cylinder problem I had. My dealer did replace them at no charge if the loader manufacture will warrenty the cylinders is another issue. The loader does not drift now under it's own weight as it did before but have not tried a heavy load yet. As for the seat, I'm on my own I guess. My dealer didn't put the modification as I thought . I went to pickup my tractor and the owner wasn't there and no one else knew anything about the seat and I didn't want to stick around to have to wait to get it done. I think the fix is nothing more than a sheet of metal with four holes in it that line upwith the four holes in the bottom of the seat. I think I'll role the edges to add strenght.

Hi everyone, just thought I would update you on the tilt cylinder saga. I got my tractor and loader back and proceded to use the loader to move some horse Store High In Transit ([censored]). As I was putting her away for the night I noticed oil leaking from the left tilt cylinder. Upon further investigation discovered that the oil was coming from the outside oring of the seal. I 've since sent the cylinder to the dealer for repair. I just couldn't see giving up my tractor for a couple weeks to fix a cylinder after all the tractor works fine it's just the loader that I have problems with.

Okay this is going to be hard to explain but I use to be jb112454 no I'm tedder I had a laspe in my membership so lost jb112454. Well i still have problems with the tilt cylinders. They NEVER stopped leaking by I just kept using them and putting up with it. Then the nut that secures the piston to the rod pulled off. Pulled off means the threads came off the rod. So I rethreaded the rod with a corse thread and put it back together. so far it works but they still leak by but worse now. The price of a rebuild kit is around $90 which seems excessive. I tried to replace the cylinders with another brand but the Kioti cyclinder is custom so thats out of the question without alot of mods. Anyone know anything about this?

The rebuild kits are a bit of a ripoff as the individual o rings etc cost just a few bucks a piece. However, unless you have about thirty catalogs from various hydraulic parts suppliers to identify each of the kit parts, you'd be better of just paying for a kit and getting it fixed. The leakage obviously isn't going to get any better and replacing the cylinders would certainly cost more.
