FEL Question

   / FEL Question #11
Sean, I took my tractor to my dealer after finding out the following:
1. The loader has a 1 year warranty not 3 like the tractor.

2. To figure out the problem just disconnect the hyd. hoses for the bucket. If it still moves it's the cylinders.

3. The cylinders for the bucket have a manufacture defect a grove in the wall which cuts the seal and thus causes it to leak.

4. The loader is not made by Kioti but is made here in the US.

5. The owner fix would to be replace the cylinders. Don't know how much this would cost but is an option if the manufacture won't fix it however, my dealer said he would fix no matter what.

6. Dealer pickup and delivery will cost you about a buck a mile.

I'm going to look into finding out how much the cylinders cost so if I end up participating in the cost side of things I'll know more about it. I also hope Kioti finds another loader company because this one %&^#^.

Thanks for the info JB,

I have until May for the one year warranty. I’m not crazy about the buck a mile. I’ll do the test you suggested “To figure out the problem just disconnect the hyd. hoses for the bucket. If it still moves it's the cylinders.” If it’s the cylinders I wonder if I can sent them in for replacement instead of the entire tractor? Also I would hate to put the same cylinders back on it there is a defect.

jb,
To get an idea of the cost to replace the cylinders, just get the dementions.
Length fully closed-center of hole to center of hole.
Do the same fully extended.
Also the cylinder diameter(dump cylinders on Kl1450 loader=1.75")
Go to Northern Tools or any hydraulic site for prices.
My guess would be $1oo-$150 per cylinder.

I'm just curious why there have been several problems with the bucket tilt cylinders(including mine)but I don't recall reading any about the lift cylinders??

baileynet.com has hydraulic cylinders and prices.
Also a small selection of hydraulic top links.

kodiac,
The right tilt cylinder leaked when I first got my tractor.
I did not take the tractor to the dealer for repair just the cylinder.
It had a cut O ring.(Dealer repaired under warranty).
But I have read about other owners who have had the same problem with tilt cylinder leaks.

   / FEL Question #18
The O rings on the cylinders are very easy to replace (the hardest part is getting out the snap ring).
But this is something that should not need done for a long time !

Vince, My dealer told me the guy who was operating the machine to make the cylinders didn't move his tool away from the cylinder wall before with drawing it. This left a small grove in the wall which causes a grove in the oring. I guess the person making the lift cylinders had his machine setup correctly since no problems with them.

Vince, I took my tractor to the dealer Saturday, sure miss her. So I can't take any measurments but I looked in the Northern catalog and the smallest bore cylinder is 2". I'll try the web site you provided.
