Bird,
Is the digging depth specified at bucket flat or at some angle? My TL 421 shows the bucket angled down for the digging depth spec.

Looks pretty flat in my manual:

Likewise, the LA302 FEL on Lucy (B7500) is spec'd at 3.1" of digging depth. I know for certain that I have lifted Lucy's front tires off the ground on more than one occasion. Sure makes steering hard when it happens.... /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Al, Harv's already answered (and I'm glad because he's so much better with pictures than I am/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif). If you tilt (dump) the front edge of the bucket down, it'd go considerably deeper.

Bird,
What I was trying to get at, my loader is spec'd to 6.3" digging depth, this is the "g" dememsion in Harv's drawing. With the bucket flat and the loader full down the tires are off the ground by a little over 3". This difference is about what you posted and what Frank is seeing with his loader. With the bucket in full dump the front wheels are off the ground by 16" (tooth bar, so this is cheating)/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

My manual drawing looks pretty much like Harv's, but I wouldn't conclude from that drawing the digging depth is spec'd at a level bucket. With my trained eye I can see a slope of 2 pixels vertically for ever 10 pixels horizontally./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Al, you could certainly be right; I've never measured it on mine, so I can't say for sure, but I think the digging depth is measured with the bucket level. Of course if the bucket were perfectly level on a flat level stretch of ground, and then was lowered into the ground, without changing the bucket dump or curl, as you went forward, the natural arc of lowering the boom would lower the lip a bit. Now, I guess also, though, if the bucket were perfectly level, it wouldn't dig in at all, but would just scoot across the surface. Hmm . . ., this might get too complicated for an old man./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Guess I'll have to measure mine sometime to see.

Bird,
might get too complicated for an old man /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I really doubt that.
There's something like "Old age and cunning make up for youth and beauty any day of the week." I like my view for just one reason, if correct Frank's tractor ain't broke./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
