FEL Snowplow/Forks Build

   / FEL Snowplow/Forks Build #21
Looks like your doing a really nice job. I did very similar a few years ago with an older all steel 8' plow with cylinders. I made an adapter similar to yours where I could mount the plow and then use it for other things including anything with a 2" receiver. One thing I added later was sliding brackets athe bottom and using the 2" receiver at the top so I could move 3pt things around. Mine is the same where I have the chain attached to the 2" reciever. I found when plowing this is critical to have good tension on it with the curl function, to give it stability. I linked the post where I did it. You may find the video helpful showing the entire setup including angle control using a valve I added. Basiclly having a front remote for using for grapple etc.

Nice to see the finished project in action.

You made short work of that project, I like to see clever uses of receiver tubes. are those factory clevis inserts or did you make them?

Only critique would be to have the receiver tubes below the bottom structure, to keep the frame and more importantly the lower loader arms up higher and out of the fracas of the terrain being plowed.

JB

Thanks JB. I made the inserts. Tried to make as much as I could. Critquie is welcomed. I agree that below the lower support bar would have been the prefered location for the receiver tubes. I will relocate there if my welds dont hold up. Because the fork bar extends an inch below the support bar, I will need to suspend the tubes approximately an inch below the support bar and approximately an inch rearward to accomodate the forks. I believe that the bottom of the forks will still be able to slide on the floor. This will also give me an opportunity to get more inches of weld on the tubes.

Thanks Dave. I enjoyed reading about your project. More good ideas. My project is a work in progress. I still need to add structure to the top to prevent front end tractor damage when using the forks. I still need to paint and grind lots of sharp edges. I'm sure that I will add other features. I understand what you mean about tension on the curl.
