Could you post of picture of the " square hole reinforcement plates"? I have another brand that requires a 3/4" hole for a bolt and nut without any reinforcement. I have never had any problem with this design. I wonder why they feel that you need a reinforcement, because there is no pressure on the tooth bar except to the rear and the teeth hold that onto the cutting edge of the bucket. The bolts on mine are just to keep the tooth bar from falling off..

I got an ATI toothbar on my BX23 when I bought it from the dealer and have been very happy with it. Been really beating on it digging rocks and driving it into embankments while doing some excavating and have not had any problems with it. I don't have pictures but it looks very similar to some of the others people have posted on this thread. The only variation on the standard toothbar that I remember seeing is the Landscaper Attachment type toothbar from EZ Attachments - has a lot more teeth which I guess might work better in certain situations.

Does anyone have a brand recommendation on a toothbar? The Woods looks nice, so does the Markham Welding product which is about $100 cheaper for me.
It's going on my BX2200, and shipping to Indiana is a consideration since these are so heavy.
I can't wait to get one...

I have the Markham Welding toothbar. It was $150 cheaper with shipping charges than any other one I priced, and it is excellent quality, was in my hands 3 days after I ordered it, and was followed up a week later with a "thank you for your order" letter.

Junkman,

You can see the reinforcement plates in my pics. Alan Markham includes it as an option because the sheet steel used on the smaller buckets is thinner than on the larger ones. He said the plates probably aren't necessary, but some folks have asked about reinforcing, so he provides them with every toothbar. I have not welded mine, they are just bolted in place acting as a washer, and no problems.

Yes, but I have a Kubota, and my tractor is so superior to that red one I am concerned that I may tear that toothbar all to shreds!

That's the conclusion I independently reached. The side walls on the bucket aren't very thick on the BX loader (circa 1/8" or so) and, in particular, can't take much of a tension load. I believe Alan was prudent in making/supplying the plates.

That said, it may be awhile before I weld 'em on. If I have to wait until I get a welder in place to do it I'll be waiting forever!

regards

Mahlon

Danny,

Did I mention I have the use of a BX22 also? I don't think your dimensionally smaller and less reinforced orange bucket will tear up Markham's toothbar, even if they have to make it smaller to fit that little bucket of yours, so don't worry about that. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

OK, we're even. Thanks for posting the info. I think I will be getting a Markham, they sound like nice people to deal with.
Thanks again!
