I've read several posts about how much better the FEL digs with a tooth-bar. That's got my attention. When I bought my tractor & I asked about one, my dealer sorta went, 'huh'? And I was so excited about putting in the order, I did not pursue it.

I'm thinking about ordering one now - - problem is, I use the FEL a good bit to backdrag an area to smooth it. Isn't this a problem with a tooth bar? Is it something that I can bolt on & take off [relatively] easily?

FYI I just don't see many [any?] FEL's with tooth bars in this area. Wonder why? We don't have rocks, maybe that's why?

Thanks.

They usually bolt onto the sides of the FEL with 2 bolts. Easy on, easy off. Do a search and you'll find loads of information. G

You might try an EZATTACHMENTS landscaper toothbar. 18 teeth instead of 7-8. Of course, you will pay more for more teeth....but works pretty well with backdragging. See mine attached.

Yes you can remove it easily. I backdrag with mine on though and am happy with the results. As far as digging, You'll wish you had it sooner.

TDog.
A tooth bar certainly is a big bonus as far as digging with a FEL goes . As for as smoothing /back dragging ... the back of the bucket works pretty fine . A big plus is the ability to drag brush . depending on the amount of forward curl , and the wieght of the tractor ,you can use the fel to loosen dirt ,and drag brush.
As to taking the tooth bar on and off ... It's two bolts .
I'd not be without mine !! John

The first time I stabbed a tree and lifted it out of the ground I was sold on it. Worth every single one of those 45,000 pennies, would do it again in a heartbeat. Get the carbide replaceable teeth ($7 each).

as the others have said get the removable toothbar, 2 bolts on and off, less than 2 min. helps with digging or lossening hard packed dirt, would not be with out it. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Wow /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. That looks mean and aggressive!

The toothbar can be of great use when back-dragging as well. By using the bottom of the teeth as a rake, you can get things very level in a big hurry because it loosens the humps, breaks up clods, and allows the dirt to flow through in a metered amount. Then, use the back edge and bottom of the bucket with the theeth curled up out of contact to put the final smoothing on.

I found it much easier to smooth 1-1/2" rock using the toothbar as a rake than using the bucket back edge. Quicker in sand as well, but sand is easy.
