FEL Tooth-bar - - one mo time

   / FEL Tooth-bar - - one mo time #11
I'm new at this myself, but with two whole day's experience under my belt, I'll second what Rick says--a toothbar can be really useful for back-dragging. Remember that box blades, which are made to do this kind of work, have "teeth"--scarifiers, or whatever they're called. First you break up the soil, then you flatten it. With the bucket/toothbar you do it in two passes instead of just one...first with the teeth, then with the bucket, tilted up.

One thing I'm not sure of--I'll address this in a separate post--is how strong those teeth are. They look very strong, but it seems possible that they would break if you drag them with too much weight in packed soil/gravel.

Thanks to all - - think I'll see what Carver can do for me.

Good information.

JCA,

I did not see your separate post so I thought I would repond here.

My toothbar teeth are very strong. I don't worry about them at all. I have picked/pried large concrete pieces out of fill dirt dumped on my driveway, sometimes only using one tooth and never worried about it. I would call them indestructable if I could spell the word... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I have attached a photo so you can get the feel of what I am talking about... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
