I agree with RichT.. Why not get both. Just tell your wife everyone on TBN has them, therefore you NEED both! By the way, can I borrow $8000.00 for a backhoe and thumb?
I certainly want both, and if I had the time I would fabricate a toothbar, but alas, *time* is the issue. Heck, I think a thumb would be a fun fabrication project too, but there are too many projects and not enough time. My better half has some money still to spend on me for Christmas so I'm trying to see if I'll put her money towards a toothbar or a thumb. I think the order I'll need them in is toothbar then the thumb. I'll need the toothbar for breaking down and moving the hard packed snow piles in the spring. The thumb for a long list of landscaping and cleanup projects soon thereafter. Everyone has convinced me that both would be useful so I'll price them out and go from there. For fun, I'm going to price out a hydraulic thumb too - although I'm pretty sure I know it will be more than I want to pay. Perhaps my compromise would be to fit a mechanical thumb with hydraulics in the summer or fall.. hmm...
