Years ago, I came home to the farm to help out when in my early 20s and my dad wanted some help getting the irrigation pump going. He had tried by himself but needed help. He had put a wooden ladder in the bucket on the loader to reach the top of the power pole that fed the pump. He had me connect the power leads from the pump to the live wires on the pole. Wooden ladder, only touch one at a time kept running through my mind as I tightened down the connectors.
We did what we had to do and did it as safe as we could with what we had. Farmers had to be mechanics and engineers on top of everything else.
