Yesterday the M-I-L came up and was going to take the wife and kids shopping. When she got to our house we still hadn't unlocked the doors and ventured out. We were kinda having a lazy day playing with the kids and we were just then getting our showers and such. When we finally heard the door and let her in she was talking about this "big dog that was growling and showing his teeth" at her. After I get my shower I wonder outside to see this "big dog." He was a pretty big dog. I decided this was a little more then I wanted to go at bare-handed. Just so happend the wife's tree pruners were there on the deck - that was going to be my defense mechanism. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I tried shooing the dog away. That just brought him that much closer to me. Finally he got right to me. He was just a big slobbering puppy. I got his tag number and started to call the pound. The wife already had, I called them anyway with the tag number. They called the owner while I was still on the phone and said that they would be here shortly.
When the guy showed up, he was an older gentleman (60s - 70s I say) walking with a limp. He was so happy to get his dog back. He had been hunting for him since about 10:30 - it was now 2:00. As he was there getting the dog, he saw my tractor. He really liked it and we talked about it for a little bit, then he asked how much I paid so that he could feel bad. I was /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif, he had bought a JD 2210 last fall with a 62"MMM, and the loader for it this spring. He then asked how many HP my NH was and I told him, he told me the 2210 was 32 - had to break his heart and tell him it was only like 21 or 22 and he was "Oh, I bet that is what the 22 stands for." /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Then we went back to talking about "Toby" - the dog. He just kept saying thanks. Then he told the dog to get in the truck. Toby went to the passenger door. The man said, "No, you are riding in the back. You'll get the windshield all dirty." /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif The guy let the tailgate down and the dog hopped up in the back of the truck and away they went.
It felt good to be able to help the guy get his buddy back. I know I sure would've been happy if someone would have returned our dog that came up missing a couple of months ago. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. I've attached a picture of Kasey that I had taken just a couple of weeks before she disappeared.
