Screws may be slow, but I think I am boing to give them a shot.
I used McFeely's Square Drive stainless steel screws on my fence. Much nicer than using philips head and having the bit round off the head of the screw plus the square drive let me place the screw on the end of the bit and drive them in. In the 1,122 screws I put in, I broke one square drive bit (didn't have it completely in the screw) and rounded off less than 10 screws. FWIW, I have a full head coil nail gun and a Paslode cordless, clip head nail gun. I still went with screws.
