Rather than the morons here in the US that catch spay/neuter and re-release feral cats so they can continue to kill native species...

Australia is taking action against the invasive non native killers...The US should wise up and do the same and not pander to the bleeding hearts...

Australia is killing millions of feral cats with poison sausage

These poisoning efforts have all kinds of problems.

Probably better ways to reduce the population.

Get some private money into the deal. Start up a franchise that specializes in GMO, organic, low saturated fat, and free range, meat. Make it exotic and yummy, maybe throw in some salsa.....

I suspect that a lot of people will disagree with this. The bigger issue is how would they limit this to just feral cats without killing off everything else in the area.

I've lived in rural areas most of my life and spent countless hours in hunting hides. I've witnessed domestic cats with half a dozen song birds, countless rats & mice, dozens of snakes,a few morning dove,,several rabbits, two baby squirrel but never a single Bob White, turkey or game animal. I don't own a cat and don't want to but don't feel the need to kill any unless caught doing something that warrant's. By comparison,I've found free roaming dogs (those that owners claim never leave their yard,,ever) to be 100 times as destructive as cats. Running deer, harrassing livestock, killing calves, killing pigs, killing chickens, killing sheep, killing goats, attacking humans and chasing horses into fences. That doesn't include endless barking and howling. I love dogs and would pay $2k each to bring some back from the grave.
I wouldn't feed them poison but there's more humans than cats I'd rather see removed from society.

Lots of people have things backwards though. We have a few cats, but well taken care of, vet care, neutered, etc.
Some friends feed/water ferral cats thinking they're being kind. Actually it's very cruel.
Cats fight, overpopulate, get diseases...just a nuisance. They have no shelter in winter, they injure them run over by cars or running motor. Very cruel, friends think they're being kind to them.

Right. Humans are the source of all of these types of problems.

IMO this is quintessential narrow mindedness...
You seem to think that game animals are more important than non game wildlife...You should do some research before making bogus claims about which is 100 times more destructive...dogs can be a problem but they do not even come close to the destruction of wildlife that cats cause...

FYI: A 2013 study found that between 1.4 billion and 3.7 billion birds, and between 6.9 billion and 20.7 billion wild mammals fall prey to free-ranging cats in the U.S. every year. They're an invasive species that can reach outlandishly high densities if left unchecked.

Obviously all non native animal issues in the US are caused by people...in the case of dogs and cats the term "people" equates to low life scumbags who dump unwanted animals etc.or let their non native animals run untethered...

Personally I would like to see a global program that traps feral cats and euthanizes them...poisoning is a bit extreme but at least they (Aussies) are doing something about a problem where the only real solution to the problem is eradication.

It's right here...

While I understand the sentiments of the OP I also see a lot of drawbacks such as non target species getting killed.
OTOH, perhaps the "Spay/neuter" program would work better if applied to certain humans instead.
