I have a TO-30 tractor and need some information, we just bought a service manual and parts manual but it didn't help. On top of and in the upper right hand corrner there are two rods coming out of the top of the hydraulic cover plate, the back rod is spring loaded held in the up position by the spring the front rod can be pushed down or pulled up and moves a spool in the casting, and seems to have something to do with the hydraulics. we just purchased the tractor last year and just now getting around to fixing it up and learning how every thing on the tractor works. any help would be much appreaciated.

Post a pic.. WAY easier to understand what you are saying.

As an aftermarket add on, you could get a hyd diverter valve installed at the front right hand corner of the hyd top cover. there is a test port at the front right lower corner of the pump base plate.... the rod controlling the spool valve usually ran thru a hollow stud up to the front of the top cover to engage/disengage the diverter.

normally to get hyd pressure out of the test port you had to chain the 3pt lift arms down.. with the spool, you only had to throw the lever.

these same kits were used on for N series as well.

the fergy 20/30 pumps and covers will virtually interchange with the ford 9n.. etc. ( will fit on an 8n as well.. just got to have both matched parts.. cover and pump to swap into the N.. etc.. ).. Individual parts are not as swapable.. for instance.. the fergy hyd cyl casting is a different size and is thus not bolt up compatible.

Here is a pic of the valve we were asking about. sorry it took so long o post a pic. we bought a new pressure relief valve, hydraulic valve and gasket set. I just seen the new ford you brought home, real nice

Yep.. very similar to what I have seen on ford N's... it basically lets you tap pressure off the onboard hyds without chaining the lift arms down..
