Re: Ferguson won\'t start
Hey Rich, I have been thinking about the moisture problem you have been having with the fuel tank in your Ferggie. I always thought it was strange that you had to add dry gas all the time. Then I thought about how the tractor is set up. You have the fuel tank under the hood, but over the top of the motor. Now the filler cap is covered by the hood, so no water should drip into the tank. Then it hit me. These tractors have a wide, long, shallow tank, right? I am thinking the heat from the motor baking the bottom of the tank, and the colder top of the tank, you got the perfect environment for condensation. I wonder if these tractors had, at some time, a heat shield between the tank, and the motor? I assume yours does not right? Now I would bet if you added some type of a heat shield, or used some of that foil backed insulating mat, between the tank, and anything hot,[motor, radiator, etc] it would stop, or almost stop your water problem.
