Ferris Diesel Mowers

We used to run about 4 Exmarks, 2 Kawasaki and Kohler Gas, 2 Kubota Diesel, 2 Toros with Kohler Liquid Cooled Gas, and a Dixie Chopper with a EFI Kohler Gas and 74" Mower. Becuase of the Economy, job numbers fell and we sold all the Toro ZTRs, all Exmarks, (Including the Diesels), and we now have a Toro, and the Dixie Chopper. We're now looking to replace the Toro with a Grasshopper oe Woods Front Mount and maybe another Dixie Chopper. The Dixies cut pretty good and they are fast! Around 16mph.

What model Grasshoppers do you have now, Dargo?

Sorry, I just saw your question. I kept the first Grasshopper I ever bought, a 721D G2. I'm not sure, but I think it was one of the first years that they had the G2 (a little stronger Gemini 2 hydro transmission). The larger 928D Grasshoppers with a 72" deck just scalped my lawn too much and wouldn't fit between several tight areas I have, so I sold them and bought me a 722D a couple of years ago. My wife has used the 721D for years so she always uses it and I use the newer 722D. Sort of 'his' and 'hers' mowers. Mine has the power-fold deck where hers has the manual handle. Other than when cleaning under the deck or changing blades, I actually prefer the old manual method because you can change deck height on the fly. It's surprising how often I seem to need to vary the cutting height when mowing. So, we have 'his', 722D, and 'hers', 721D, Grasshopper mowers.

Even if I didn't prefer the Grasshoppers I'd still buy them because of the fact my wife likes them so well that she doesn't complain at all about helping me mow. Heck, she mows the 10 acres or so around our house several times a year by herself when I'm too busy. You just know I gotta love the mower when that happens!
