OK..simple question..How? Ferris 1500

Drain plug is about 1/4 inch from the bottom frame of machine. Do they expect you to park on an incline, and let oil drain onto frame then roll about 5 inches off the back of the frame???

The other side of the engine has a rubber hose coming off the bottom and held into a bracket straight up..vertical. I thought that might be the way to drain the oil as there is a cap on the end of the hose...but there is no way to get rubber hose facing down so oil can drain out...looks like some kind of compression fitting???

Any input would be appreciated.

Player, I don't have the Ferris but I have the Simplicity Citation, which is a close cousin. However, they have different engines but I think the oil change is the same or similar. On mine the oil filter is on the right as ou face the rear of the unit, there's a plug in the back, that's not to change oil, it would allow oil to drain all over the mounting plate and as you noted you'd have to jack the front end up to get it to emerge.

The hose on the left facing the rear, which is in a braket it the oil drain tube, mine isn't fastened in the bracket, it's simply to hold the tube up. I just pulled it out routed it down the back of the unit, used 2 wrenches and removed the thread cap and presto. Hope this helps! Of course this is assuming your set up is like mine. Good Luck!
