This is done by an independant firm for all manufacturers not by the guy saying that they are selling the most.. I guess I am not that good a clarifing myself.

( As a coporation I have always like John Deere because they haven't been bought out like the others have. When a manufacture has been bought out by another corporation one of two things happen, they either go for quality or they try and take an existing product and make cuts to it to make up the difference. But I guess John Deere made major changes in both product and overhead to make up for their losses also )
That is exactly one of the reasons I own green and yellow,I love the John Deere products and I feel the company is so strong and well managed.
My second picks would be Kubota or a Massey(AGCO) for the same reasons I mentioned above.
There are lots of Kubota dealers and John Deere dealers and Massey dealers.
I would not feel good owning a New Holland or Case, not because of the tractors, they are good, but New Holland and Case have been having such financial and management problems with Fiat owning them. I just hope something good happens to CNH a good buyer comes along ,I hate to see the products divested.

I agree with you and hope something good turns out, I own a NH and certainly have some concerns with any weakening of the finances of CNH. I am also sympathetic to the many employees worldwide that would be affected by any problems.

When I was looking up the Landini tractor for one of the other posts. I came across this article Mac is back . I don't want to get in the middle of this and don't know what their credentials were to make the claim that ( This acquisition makes the ARGO Group the world’s largest tractor manufacturer. ) , I did find it interesting none the less. So does that mean that Kubota isn't part of the Big 3? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Kubota is part of the "big 3" in compact tractors but in ag tractors Kubota is no where to be found. There are companies like JD, CNH, AGCO and Valtra that are major players in the world market.

This was from a financial post on Quicken.com today.

CNH is the number one manufacturer of agricultural tractors and combines in the world, the leader in light construction equipment, and has one of the industry's largest equipment finance operations. Revenues in 2002 totaled $10 billion. Based in the United States, CNH's network of dealers and distributors operates in over 160 countries. CNH agricultural products are sold under the Case IH, New Holland and Steyr brands. CNH construction equipment is sold under the Case, FiatAllis, Fiat Kobelco, Kobelco, New Holland, and O&K brands.

The new McCormic is manufactured in a UK plant that CaseIH had to sell off in order to be bought by NH (Fiat). Someone mentioned earlier in the thread about companies being "too big," or having a monopoly. Except for Microsoft, a company can be forced to sell plants of product lines as part of a merger, e.g. the McCormic plant and the genesis line.

My understanding is that CNH would be the last part of Fiat SPA to be sold off. It is the Fiat car and truck business in Europe that is hemorrhaging money. As I am sure anyone who has ever owned a Fiat brand car can tell you they are plauged by poor build and reliability problems.

On another note, AGCO and John Deere would not be allowed to buy CNH if ever it were put on the auction block. At best AGCO could buy the construciton equipment and would be forced to spin off either the AGCO brand or the CNH farm equipment brand. On the flip side, Cat could buy CHN farm equipment but would have to spin off the construction side.
