Tractor
fiat
Not sure if my fiat is a 550 or 640 model tractor . It痴 2wheel drive and here are some numbers I found on engine if anyone can please help me :
A* 102-096843 *
9F Fiat - 4602315
H2B21F6S

I致e put the numerals down as best I can . Some were a bit hard to see , but hope someone can shed some light for me on what it is . The oil filter is a normal spin on one on right side of engine close to clutch pedal

But it doesn稚 show serial numbers that match to model numbers ?

I know that it doesn't show the serial numbers.

As I said, that website may assist you in identifying what model FIAT that you have.

Here’s a photo of the tractor . Does anyone know if it’s a 640? Its 4 cylinder

Both 550 and 640 are 4 cylinders. The only difference is the displacement of the engine.

I think, mostly by looking at some pictures on Google, that the 640 uses two fuel filters while the 550 only use one. This is the main difference I could notice.

Also looks like the 640 uses two hydraulic pumps, being one for the power steering, which might have been an extra for both models.

It doesn’t have power steering mate , just a big steering wheel !.
Where does it say the displacement on the motor ?

Do you mean 2 cav type fuel filters ?

Some times the manufacturers cast the displacement number on the engine block. Can either be 3.1L (550) or 3.5L (640).

I don't know for sure. I know they were one of the best tractors at the time. And they still very desirable here in my country. Specially the 640DT (4WD).

From the pictures, the 640 uses two filters on the right side of the engine. While the 550 uses just one as you have.

Yeah well it seems to run really nicely , doesn’t blow smoke, and has done over 6000 hours !
It seems strong enough to drive my wood splitter

Keep on posting pictures Troy. They help... as does adjusting your profile to include where you are in the world.

Can we see the instrument panel?

Really good machines. It can take another 6000 hours without any problems at all. I bet it still have the original clutch.

It more that enough to run a wood splitter. Just check the cooling system and engine temp once in a while since the tractor is stationary and won't breathe as much as it would while driving. This works for any tractor, not this one particularly.
